Palm Health Foundation is pleased to announce that we will continue to support Mental Health First Aid through a grant awarded by Florida Blue Foundation. Mental Health First Aid is a training program that teaches members of the public how to identify and help a person who is experiencing a mental health problem or is in mental health crisis. Like traditional first aid, Mental Health First Aid doesn’t teach people how to treat or diagnose a mental health condition, rather, it teaches them how to offer initial support until appropriate professional help is available.
The 8-hour training helps reduce the overall stigma associated with mental illness by improving mental health literacy. Palm Health Foundation is proud to support the extraordinary work of the Mental Health First Aid Coalition of Palm Beach County, administered by Alpert Jewish Family & Children’s Services.
With this new grant, the Mental Health First Aid Coalition will provide training for 2,000 African-American and Hispanic adults, uninsured or underinsured, living below the poverty level and residing in the foundation’s Healthier Together zip codes. Through this grant, the Mental Health First Aid course will be provided for free to all participants.
