Katrina Blackmon was initially drawn to Palm Health Foundation by the people who make up the Healthier Neighbors community. Healthier Neighbors is part of Palm Health Foundation’s Healthier Together initiative, and has been addressing the behavioral health needs of the Northern West Palm Beach/Riviera Beach community since 2018.
“The foundation has a different feel than other organizations,” said Katrina. “Staff are so genuine and truly want to hear from residents. I was surprised to see the deep personal and financial investment that Palm Health Foundation makes in the community with Healthier Together.”
When Katrina read some of the COVID-19 stories that the foundation collected using Sensemaker, she was inspired to give to The Neighbors Helping Neighbors Fund. “I’m a giver,” said Katrina. “If I can do something for someone, I will. These are our neighbors, so if I have a little extra, I’m going to share what I have.”
Katrina doesn’t feel that her donation is large, but she knows that it will bring relief in this pandemic, whether it be a meal or a toiletries package. “I want my neighbors to know that they are loved and thought about by someone,” she said.
Palm Health Foundation is honored to work alongside donors like Katrina, who are truly invested in our community and believe in the power of love and kindness. Katrina’s advice to those considering a philanthropic relationship with Palm Health Foundation is, “Do unto others as you want done unto you. It wouldn’t take much for most of us to be in a situation of need. Let’s all do our part. Our neighbors are our responsibility, and we should take care of each other.”
Let’s take care of each other. If you are interested in making a donation to The Neighbors Helping Neighbors Fund or establishing your own fund, contact Carrie Browne, Director of Stewardship & Strategic Partnerships. CarrieB@phfpbc.org, 561-837-2281
